I have to split it up into different parts because of the length.
here we go:

Agent X 3rd
Gen, the Choosing
~~
Section 1:
The Orphanage
~~
“Please,
let tomorrow be better...*sob* it’s always so hard...” the little girl curled
up on her small make-shift bed, crying, sobbing. “If only...if only...
something magical could happen...”
She comforted herself with that thought, and fell asleep with that small hope giving the faintest of smiles to her tear-stained face.
Jessie
turned away from the girl, and hurried out of the building. The orphanage was
always a depressing place to be, it made Jessie’s heart ache so badly every
single time she was there, observing the small children.
She pulled her cloak over her head as she
hurried down the road in the rain. She mused how even the weather agreed with
how she was feeling.
Something had
to be done about this, Something... magical.
~
“Caitlyn
Owens, her name is Caitlyn Owens, she turns ten this next week.”
“My, then
she is tall for her age...” Jessie remarked to Headmaster Collon, owner of the
orphanage.
“Aye, she
is, she was orphaned when she was five, but was only recently transferred from
the other orphanage when she turned seven. Let’s see, that makes it almost
three full years ago.” He gestured to Caitlyn as he stood with Jessie at the
far end of the hall, watching the kids eat. “Sometimes she can be very
difficult to handle, that causes conflict with some of her peers that can’t
stand her
“What’s new
among kids Collon...”
Collon
shrugged and was forced to concede with a grin.
~
“So what do
you think?”
“Why
Jessie!” Tristin exclaimed happily. “That is a fantastic idea, it would be so
nice, you know... our own parents both died when we were very young, so we also
know how it feels like to be without parent. It’ll be a new experience for all
of us, oh! I’ll even be an aunt! Now that’ll be fun. We will have so much to
teach her, so much to guide her in...oh Jessie! Where do you get all these
great ideas?”
~
“So what do
you think?”
“Jessie.” Carolina responded,
disapproval clearly evident in her voice.
“Yes Carolina ?” Jessie replied,
forcing herself to keep her voice neutral.
“Jessie...”
“Yes Carolina ?”
“Jessie,
you do know that choosing to bring her into this kind of life will be
endangering her, exposing her to dangers that she wouldn’t have otherwise
faced.”
“I
know...”Jessie sighed, turning away to file more paperwork back on her desk.
“But the life she is living right now means nothing to her, and I know I can
give her a better life, yes there are dangers, but there are other things as
well, things that make life worth living for, and besides, there is something I
have to prove through this.”
“Stuff and
nonsense Jessie, you are the last person to have to prove anything.” Carolina said. “You cheated
death as a child thanks to your brilliant mother, inherited unique skills from
your talented father, the legendary Agent X, Youngest leader in history AND
united all three factions into one co-operative working unit. And these are
just the top of the list Jessie, I could go on and on but I have made my
point.”
Jessie
nodded, accepting Carolina ’s
compliments graciously. “and that is exactly the point, it is because of who my
parents were, and the mentors like Frost and Anderson that allowed people like
you and me to become who we are today, doing what we are doing. Carolina , the Reynolds
legacy will end with me, my parents are dead, Zac is gone, and everyone
pertaining to the Reynolds is gone. If I do not do anything the line will die
out with me. I wish to take Caitlyn Owens as my grand experiment: to adopt her
as Caitlyn Reynolds, to love and guide her, to teach and instruct her in the
way my own mother never got to. I want to take her, a nobody from the streets,
and turn her so that she can be worthy of taking on the Reynolds name, and so
continue the legacy to the next generation. It doesn’t matter who you were, or
who your parents were- it’s who you want to be, and who you choose to be. And
with Caitlyn, I will prove that.”
“It’s
really hard to argue with you when you have your mind already made up.”
“Then you
agree?”
~
Caitlyn’s
little eyes shone as she gripped her bowl slightly harder – the cook had given
her a small extra piece of potato! So someone had remembered that it was her
birthday!
She set her
bowl down on the table and quickly stole a small glance around the room to see
if anyone had noticed that, just for today, she was someone special, someone
worth something.
Bad idea.
Big Lucy had noticed the extra bit in Caitlyn’s bowl and saw the nervous
glancing around.
Lucy
spotted her opportunity as the cook stepped out of the room to get something. She
immediately got up and marched over to Caitlyn to whisper into her ear words that
were edged with spite:” and I’ll be taking that. Do not think that just because
this day means something to you that you become any more valuable then the
trash that you are every other day.”
Lucy
glanced toward the door- the cook was nowhere to be seen- this was her
opportunity to unload all her grievances against Caitlyn.
She hoisted
Caitlyn out of her seat and shoved her roughly against the wall. Drawing her
hand back to hit the smaller girl, Lucy was smirking.
Caitlyn
felt that she was nothing, nothing at all.
~
Jessie
watched on in silence, she would not interfere because she wanted to see how
all this would pan out
~
Lucy lifted
the smaller girl off the bench and hurled her a short distance to the nearby
wall, Caitlyn crashed into a heap as she landed messily on the ground. She
scrambled into a sitting position and put her arms up protectively as Lucy came
over.
“So, little
brat, are you ready to pay for your sins?” Lucy sniggled “this is going to be
fun…”
Every bad
deed that Caitlyn had ever done came rushing back to her memory
“no..no
please…no…No please…please! NO! PLEASE! NO!” She begged, her pleas becoming
more and more desperate.
“Not
feeling so high and mighty now? Hahaha, always sucking up to the teacher and
pretending that you know so much more than all of the rest of us, not really
helpful where you are now right Cait? Well tell me, since you “know” so much,
how much is it going to hurt when I hit you?”
Caitlyn
closed her eyes and braced herself for the hit.
But it
never came
~
Jessie had
watched enough
~
Lucy lifted
her hand, but could not bring it down to hit Caitlyn- something had her hand locked
in the air. She turned around to see who or what was gripping her hand and she
stared into the cold unfeeling eyes of Jessie Reynolds.
“Let go of
me! Miss, let go of me!” Lucy whined as she struggled to break free of Jessie’s
iron grip
“As you
wish” Jessie’s voice came out low and dangerous. She released Lucy’s hand and
raised her own hand, balling up her fist, as if to strike.
“You…you
would hit a small girl Miss?” Lucy whimpered, cowering before Jessie.
“The irony
involved amazes me. You did not seem to have an issue with bigger girls hitting
smaller girls before I showed up.” Jessie stepped forward and Lucy backed away.
Jessie
reached down and held out her hand towards Caitlyn, who was still in a heap on
the ground. Caitlyn looked at the outstretched hand offered to her and did not
know how to react. Jessie smiled and nodded comfortingly and spoke softly:
“Caitlyn Owens, I have come to offer you a choice: if you so wish to, you can
choose to stay here, with the people you know, the routine life you are used
to, doing the mundane day to day things that is almost second nature to you. Or
alternatively, you can choose to come with me, and I can show you a whole new
world, a world you could never have dreamed of, a world that few get to see, a
world full of dangers, but a world well worth those dangers.”
“wh…what do
you mean?”
“Caitlyn, I
am here to take you away from this place, to offer you a brand new world you
could never have imagined, I am willing to adopt you, raise you, guide you, and
love you. But I need to hear it from you- are you willing to choose to allow me
to do so?”
“B..but…why
me? Why choose me? I am a nobody; I have nothing to offer, why do you choose to
be so good to me?” Caitlyn was bewailed. She hung her head and could look up
“Oh
Caitlyn…” Jessie knelt down and reached out to tilt young Caitlyn’s face up.
She looked into the small girl’s eyes and whispered reassuringly, “know this,
young lady. What’s important is not who you were or who you are. It is who you
are going to be and what you are going to do to become that person you are in
the future.”
“What
future do you want?”
WOW AMAZING
