of Musical Chairs and Moving

okay so its Friday night and because im just so A-Typical I spend it moving stuff around the house

right, how brilliant is that?

so dad decided to play musical chairs with all the furniture in the house, so Brother and I are the ones moving all the tables and chairs and sofas and whatnot around the house

yeah, even the computers are not spared--> all the untangling of the wires

but all those are not the worse part! the super-worse-bad part of it all was that we had to move MY TABLE into parent's room and move an (almost) identical table from activity room to replace my table, and that was after we had moved the sofa out of parent's room to make space for my table going in

confused yet? good.
so back to my table (which moved into parent's room). I am....not the neatest person around (I will openly admit that) so when dad said I had to move my own table I almost fainted/freaked out at the magnitude of the task (yes it is no small feat)

so I finally found my library book that I was missing, I finally emptied my dustbin, and I finally chucked everything into the shelves (because they have doors- see what I did there?)

yeah its the equivalent of sweeping the dust under the carpet, but me being me....it works

so now furniture (that im used to being at one particular place in the house) are all in weird and different places, its gonna take some time getting used to

but still the fridge is in the kitchen and the com is on the table, so the 2 key things finalised is a good thing.

green tea in the fridge, internet on the com.

life is good (well, sorta)

of Sun and Sunny really really really hot days

okay so today is Thursday and us ppls have soccer in the morning but the sun today decided to be blazing and burn us all up

yeah, we really suffered. badly. lol xD so after the soccer game we all went to the back of the stands just to get in the shade

in Singapore we don't have seasons so why has this like been the hottest early morning like, EVER? I mean we don't even have daylight saving and whatnot you know.... -.-

oh wellz, since the sun zap so much energy I could barely walk to the interchange to take bus, and the genius of a person (me) forgot to take the goalkeeper gloves so I had to walk back to the court and take it by myself

yeah, forever alone. like a boss

anywayz I crashed when I reached home: I love the flexibility of homeschooling (yeah I got to take a nap)

well, nice dinner later due to my aunt's birthday and sending someone else off at the airport after that.

but first: green tea

Lesson-- Blessing in Disguise

disguise, dengue...close enough

okay so even though im not your optimistic optimist but sometimes looking at a situation in a different light can be quite illuminating (yeah geddit?)

yep, so even though dengue is considered a huge-ly bad thing, but looking in another way (on hindsight) it can be considered a blessing in disguise for me.

so yeah I sort of mentioned before that I was kinda torn between True U and Kluang Cola Wars but thanks to dengue I didn't have much of a choice so I ended up missing both but the thing is it was more then what it was

so on sunday evening the kluang people had to do the evening service as a report on the kluang rally
so since I didn't go kluang I had completely no "obligation" to be there and I could go to laser tag instead

okay so I don't know if im being "dis-loyal" to the church or something and whatnot but I can say I really enjoyed how things turned out

if you seek Him, He will give you the desires of your heart (paraphrased cause I cant remember what the original was, and yes I think im ripping it out of context) so yeah, im really thankful how things turned out, even the dengue

yeps, another thing: distance makes the heart grow fonder. just had green tea again today and I can almost swear it is so much more sweeter, also stole bubble tea from my brother and it tastes so good

2 weeks of not consuming them really helps you appreciate it (same thing with friends, although not the consuming part)

I cant wait to see how oreos and milk taste after a long break from them :)

of MC and mundane life

okay so I was kinda joking on the mundane life part, life has been pretty up since I've recovered from dengue,

yeah, I've recovered alr, the last blood test I took had my platelets level at 191 (and a normal person's level should be around 144) so im clear. though the doctor said that for dengue if I get it a second time round it'll be much worse for me so....xP fingers crossed

but since I've recovered the few days of MC was really nice, I got more free time to read and play com games xD haha, I even picked up playing LoL

so I got to be considered "fully recovered" by Friday so I got to resume my normal activities
I just realised like I didn't see anyone outside my family (except Joshua during National Day) for over 2-3 weeks

wow, social deprivation max eh? yeah, when I went on like Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and actually saw people I was like:" wow...I almost forgot how he/she looked like" " hey there's like, people around! yay!"

I like seriously did that. so like I learnt here that you can actually miss your friends, so much more since like im homeschooled! xD

haha yeah, so over the weekend wherever I went people was like:" welcome back!" . that was nice.
its good to be missed as well. #touched

:')
so like on Saturday evening (even though I just recovered) I was like playing soccer and I injured my inner thigh and I was on like panic mode cause I really wanted to play laser tag the next day, so I like ice-packed my leg and used the deep-heat rub and rested my leg and did everything I could haha

at least I could walk the next day and eventually could play YAY! but sunday school was nice and eipc, it was almost like a CGC (Career Guidance Counselling) haha, and teaching  in church itme was also nice, letting all the kids hear of my accounts of needles.

LASER TAG! lol, it was like the Jerel's strategy vs John Chua's strategy. it was a good thing for us that all the little kids decided to spy for use and tell us the opposing teams strategy before the round starts.

King round was epic, at least we really won that round :)))))) yay team!
the opponents re-enacted Picket's Charge: charge an open field against "machine gunfire" -> all died xD
we did David-Uriah tactic: send the person to frontline, then all fall back except him--> he dies

oh wellz, life certainly isn't mundane :)

but that was the weekend, now back to schooling cause I've run out of MC. work starts and the world continues to turn as the sun continues to rise and set.

lol

Sick Week

okay so my last post on having headaches was really prophetic: on Tuesday when I got the headaches after I went to sleep it bloomed into a full fever

so on Wednesday I really suffered :(
and I especially hate this kind of fever cause the accompanying "side-effect" is headaches-- mental faculty stasis kind of headaches. so I couldn't think at all, and it was horrible, I could only drift in and out of consciousness

wed was the worst of the fever, Thursday the fever wasn't so bad and on Friday I was up and around, using the com and all xP but at nights the fever would still be there--->I would wake up like 2-3 times per night and desperately grab my bottle of water and drink a lot cause I was just so dehydrated :P

because of this fever I had to miss BOTH the Kluang cola wars AND True U altogether -.-

but it gets even better: so today im still running a fever and my eyes hurt so I got to go to the polyclinic where the doctor said:" yeah, sounds like dengue"

then the doctor gives us a referral letter to go to CGH to do blood test

NEEDLES! argh.

me: *looks at needle*"ouch"
doctor:" don't worry! only a small needle mah...."
me:"ouch"
(I should come up with some snappy comeback line xD)

oh well, I officially have dengue (yeah! I think im the first in my circles)
and looks like I will be missing a lot of the upcoming events. hopefully I can recover by next weekend so that I can still go play laser tag, but :/

for the next few days I will have to go and do blood tests every single day, so more needles for me! YAY! (not)

of Heart-to-Heart-Talks and Headaches

headaches? yeah, I have one now, its mostly due to how there is a chunk load of tire-edness that just piles up and hits me on Monday

yeah, people that have Monday blues, I feel ya

yesterday (Sunday) dinner, was one of the most epic dinners I had recently. not the food, the food was nothing to crow about since I ate my normal mixed veggie rice.

it was more of the heart-to-heart-talk with my bro and my friend. it was like talking to drunk people, a 1.5 litre green tea was emptied between my bro and I (but of course I could finish it myself but I had to share)

I think all 3 of us were hyper or something, all the people from surrounding tables all gave us funny looks but we didn't care xD

its always nice to have these kinds of epic convos every now and then-- open,frank, and embarrassing talks with people closer to you

keep your friends close, cause only with them around can you see yourself truly.

Lesson--- Team Work

wait, didn't this person also write/post something about Teamwork awhile back? well yeah, but theres like totally a significant difference between teamwork and working in a team

that doesn't make any sense! it does, really, just think harder a little

alright, so the past few days were really one thing after another...busy, tiring---you know, the usual. but its always interesting to get to work in groups with other people and watch group dynamics :)

well so its fun when im the vice-president of a particular group and im in a briefing with the president (yeah, theres some "pretty big scale" thingy/event coming up nearer to the end of the year)

aaaaaand we decide to call a meeting with the executive committee the next day xD --all the calling and whats-app-ing and emailing and stuff just to get the meeting going. (trigger word: argument, phone)

so, like, anyway, the retarded thing is that the group has a secretary but instead its the vice-president that does all the "dirty work"/mundane tasks (email after the meeting at midnight) cause the president wants to remain "aloof" LOL!

oh wellz, its a problem I have I guess, I never like it to have to "assign" people to do stuff that I can easily complete myself. But that could have serious ramifications: doing all these "extra" stuff would really take up time (all those little minutes here and there can really add up!) and cause the person to "lose focus" on the main things that are important.

another effect would be the lack of the team actually working together, well yeah the task gets done not by the "right" person could lead to problems in the future when handing the job to the next person comes around.

well, me seriously gotta relook at me-self, and the pplz around me.
Team Player <--- still continually striving towards that

tttttttttired.... (understandably) *yawn*

of Friends and Family

weekend, right.

so, quite abit of running during fri night (yeah, sentosa and all), then sat morning soccer match -no subs there so full 90min xP

the pianist didn't come for patch club so I had to play the piano AND lead the conducting, and also play for joy club cause everyone with a "sense of musicality" went AWOL on that day xD

soccer after youth class also <--more running there. then we went for dinner at Uncle Maurice's house, and ended up there until 11pm talking about mainly music-fail ndp songs and the piano guys, choir music and stuff. (cause parents were held up at some funeral)

sunday I crashed...(no surprise there) suddenly between sunday school and main service pastor asked to see then then I "panicked" and started thinking of all the "sins" I had committed (lol) but in the end he just wanted me to lead choir after service

conducted patch club, taught for children's church time, then have Kluang Cola Wars Working Com meeting after that (apparently I missed some YA/YF debrief/meeting stuff thingy-thingy)

choir~ (did I mention it got videoed and put on facebook? so embarrassing lol)

O.o then came an interesting part...no tracting so we ended up going to help Uncle Ben to move house (mainly carry boxes into the van--travel to the new place--unload the boxes into the new place--go around the house to look-see-look-see.) Joshua has an awesome room ('nuff said) even had an nice place to put a full length poster of anyone he wants lol

all of us helping got treated to prata and drinks, very nice there

evening time--- went for a family gathering! nice to meet all our cousins there. 2 cousins getting married so no points for guessing what a major talking topic was. xP

reached back reaaaaally late

crashed the next morning xD
I love homeschooling

of Specs and Sentosa

right, so today was pretty much separated into two sections: the frustrating first part, and the more fun second part.

so today was the outing to sentosa, and everyone involved in that was pretty much really enthu about it. but of all days at about lunchtime Youngest Bro had to go ahead and break my SPECTICALES.

right, so after I got me eyes checked out today, im standing at 750 degrees for left eye and 800 degrees for right eye. (YEAH IM PRACTICALLY [close to] BLIND OKAY I GET IT)

yeah, but at least im proud to say the reason I had to start wearing specs was because I read too much without resting my eye (hah to those ppl that blame all myopia on computers now)

so yeah I was like stumbling "blindly" (no pun intended) looking for my super-low-powered-spare-specs to just put on, well eventually I found it and it gave me a headache wearing it.

walked all the way to tampines to the optician to see if they can just replace the lense but noooooooo... they only had 1 other frame that could fit it and the sides were brown and yellow -.-

but the optician was very nice and gave me a pair of contacts to wear for the day (I would have worn my own contacts but I am like down to my last pair and I nid to save it for tmr's football match lol)

yep, that pretty much was the annoying part of the day....walking in the afternoon sun of course did not help

so went to sentosa, had fun there haha....mainly hanging out with friends. luge...dinner, super short briefing on the year end event that we'll have to organize xP

yeah....then we played touch rugby, on the beach. yeah, we, the exco...lol

was fun though, violent too at times xD smashing into people cause its just so dark and u cant see clearly.

ttttttthen....to cool down after that....the whole group settled into some "table game" or "cooling down game" [trigger word: lying]

was fun...was fun...and tiring, and sandy, really sandy

Lesson---Waiting

okay yeah, so it happened like this: me (loving the library so) went to borrow some books to devour and me eyes set upon a couple of decently thick books with a nice cover that caught my eye (yeah, that's the way I choose books, genius right? xD) so the books were book 1 and book 2 of a series and the 3rd book was just not there but never mind! I just finished 2 super thick (and super boring) books and the last book in that particular trilogy was slated to come out in 2014 (I don't even know if i'll look up that last book oh wellz)

so I'm "kinda" "used" to being denied the satisfaction of finishing a trilogy once, but the second I started on this new set of books (which are very good!) I couldn't put them down, lol, the book that I brought to read in my Chinese oral was one of these 2 books. so when I was done with the 2nd book I was desperate to get my hands on the last book (cause the author was really good in drawing out the suspense)

well....I went online to check NLB catalogue and it said that pasir ris library didn't have the book (duh, that's why I didn't get all books in the 1st place) but tampines library HAD IT.

so the Jerel rushed down the same day and frantically tried to find the book....the catalogue clearly said that it was there but reality said it was clearly NOT there.

after a frustrating time at the library...the Jerel went back empty handed. (this was just like 3 days ago)

so yesterday on the way home I popped by the library b4 it closed and OH YEAH PEOPLEZ! THE BOOK WAS THERE! so I grabbed it and went home and read to midnight and woke up early and read it somemore.

yeah, being "deprived" of something only makes getting it even more sweeter. (although where I first head that saying is another thing...[trigger word: restraining power from above])

actually I hoped to bring the book on fri, but at the current rate that its getting devoured....I don't think so.

so, lesson learnt here.~

stuff and nonsense

well...okay, im slacking in my 1st wekk of "school" lol gonna rush out some work b4 I hit the library to get my 3rd book and finish off the trilogy that im on right now. the funny part mainly lies in the fact that I spent over one-and-a-half hours (while waiting for my CHINESE oral) reading my ENGLISH book xD haha....I hope my "relaxed" form will fare better then last year in terms of results

well...even then I cant take an "extended" break from Chinese seeing that the listening compre will be like this Tues, but then again, one does not simple fret over listening compre (even if it is in Chinese)

AT LEAST. there are 2 bottles of green tea at home, and oreos too, so for that I am (more or less) content.

yeah, got a heads up on the topic (more like event) that will be discussed next fri during the exco meet. (yay!) but...see? that's the problem when theres a leadership "void" and you step up to take the temporary place to help and do a decent job ppl just keep placing you back in the spot xP (yeah, cryptic message here haha)

anyway, I have something in mind, it'll be fun...it'll be fun...

Monday, 15 July 2013

Holidays are over...work starts xP

well...my 2 weeks-ish holiday has come to a close and today the work starts--> Grade 12, Last year of school. At least i'll be studying economics, so it ain't that bad xP

the bad part would probably be pre-calculas xP and American government xP (why do I even have to study that ouch)

well...on the bright side...the holidays were nice, last sat morning we went to play laser tag---was fun, adrenaline pumping like crazy and in 15min in a AIRCON room everyone perspires like crazy.(like, seriously) then after that had lunch with the church ppl (that day was basically church day out) then childrens clubs, then captains ball and then soccer until dark then dinner with church ppl again (see what I mean?)

yeah, then sunday came along --anniversary Sunday for the church-> 32 years old. at least I had my voice to be able to sing in the choir xD and it all ended with Daniel being very obvious xP

oh wellz, I told Auntie Janette that i'll go google translate my entire testimony xP it'll be funny.
Cola Wars up in Kluang run by us? ...again we don't have the "over-enthu-no-shame" kind of attitude xP (we're conservatives Chinese for goodness sake!)

oh wellz....now that I have my voice back the Chinese teacher will surely pick a lot on my ltr (well, the exam is in 3 days so lol)

should I go and buy green tea and drink it there? my gastric and sore throat isn't really settled yet...but still.... hmm

of Sports and Contacts

yesterday was a fairly decent day, with the (probably the biggest and only) downside was that 3/4 of my Grade 12 ARRIVED AT THE DOORSTEP! Dx for a horrible moment I was tempted to hurl it off the building but that moment passed when mom came over :(((

(anyway, its the last year of schooling...better get over with it)(but even up till right now I haven't even opened the boxes xP maybe i'll try pushing my holidays until the weekend and start next week or something)

and that happened in the afternoon, and at the evening there was a soccer match and dad said that I had to wear contacts because it was a "competitive" match (wwwwwwut?)

yeah I hate contacts, on of my foundational principles of life is: Thou Shalt not poke the eye that helps thou read or see. And wearing contacts COMPLETLY VIOLATS THAT! urgh, poking the eye -.-

at least I got the contacts on without crying as much and then almost immediately after that I get to do something stupid: Read.For A Long Time.With Contacts.On A Bus.
2nd Bro was sleeping the journey off and I had to stay awake to watch where to alight. after the bus ride I had: splitting headache, dry eyes, tired system, etc etc

and in the end we lost the football match 4-6. nvm, I got to assist 2 goals :P

had dinner/supper after that...then came home...as stated earlier, had a fairly decent day.

did too much talking (yea, regretting now) today woke up with a horrible pain in the throat (ouch) hopefully that doesn't deter my recovery.

Monday, 8 July 2013

Voice---> Lost!

ARGH!!!!! (yeah, here is the only place that I can scream aloud) I LOST MY VOICE, IM DOOMED! Dx

ergh, so I would assume that over usage of my voice over the weekend (actually just mainly sunday) has led to the horror of me WAKING UP TODAY WITH NO SOUND BEING ABLE TO PROCEDE FROM MY MOUTH!

its super-irritating, not being able to talk, that is, and like today I had to take 3-5 phone calls =.= the amazing logic man! lost voice---> takes phone calls ---> cant talk. awesome

really really crossing fingers and throwing all kinds of liquids down my throat in an effort to get my voice on the road to restoration :P I don't wanna think of what could happen seeing that this sunday is Church Anniversary Sunday and the choir's song is really nice. hopefully i'll be fully recovered by then *fingers crossed really tight!!!*

mom came back from outside with 1.5 litres of  GREEN TEA (and oreos too, but that's on suspension due to my current voice condition), the 1.5 litre of ICE LEMON GREEN TEA that dad got yesterday night is already downed, sooo....stage two of the green tea treatment.

AND I STILL HAVE CHINESE CLASS LATER! the super funny part is that with the Chinese O levels oral exam coming up in about 10 days, the teacher is in overdrive for us to do oral presentations, AND NOW WITH NO VOICE.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA (maybe i'll try whispering until the teacher gives up and doesn't pick me haha)

come on come on come on come on come on voice! I really nid a quick recovery (or vocal rest xD)

Saturday, 6 July 2013

past week...reflection

pfffff.....what can I say? long week, tired, long day tmr....etc etc.
it seemed like theres no break in between, today is Saturday and just last week was the conclusion of the awesome Cola Wars, and immediately following that was the Layman Bible Education Program.
I missed the fist two days due to Chinese class on Monday and Teaching Assignment on Tuesday (both [at least for now] I do not regret going cause theres like Chinese O levels Oral Exam coming up soon this month and the cute kids in the class that I teach [especially the girl that has the sweetest smile---> that's what makes teaching meaningful)

but the Program was good, the speaker was really clear in his explanations. Very easy to understand.

separate issue aside, in a recent convo with a random friend, that particular person happened to mentioned that I, the Jerel, have (quote,unquote) "mellowed down". now what the !@#$#@!$@# does that mean? mellowed down? MELLOWED DOWN?

definition of mellow:(esp. of sound, taste, and color) Pleasantly smooth or soft; free from harshness.

WWWWWWHAT? screw that, maybe im just loosing my edge cause it has been heavens knows how long since my last proper debate, my mental sharpness is loosing its shine. taking a back seat in convos really reduces wits by 2 levels (and im sure IQ along with it =.=) zzz

oh wellz, but who cares? life will still go on, the world will still continue to turn so....:P whatev.

soooo, long day tmr, apparently there'll be some sort of "thanksgiving" dinner tmr for Youngest Bro (maybe they'll have turkey! [maybe not]) aaaaaand hopefully they wont nid ppls like me to give a speech or whatnot, cause I suck on impromptu speeches xP

Tuesday, 2 July 2013

Its Kids like these

yeah, its kids like these that really make teaching worthwhile, the small smiles when they whisper the answer that they know, the small giggles as they react to something funny, the overall sweetness.

its really nice to see that young kids can actually be all cute and nice, and not have to put on some sort of mask, or be someone that they are not, *sigh* I guess it all changes when they grow up.

but as of now, their smiles are guileless and sweet, and I am proud to be their teacher.

Near Past Stuff

wow....haven't posted anything for awhile...CAUSE EVERYTHING WAS JUST AWESOME THE PAST FEW DAYS!

yeah, Youngest Bro got to be in the normal ward for a couple of days and finally got discharged on sat, 1 week from when he had his accident. really thankful for all the support and how things all turn out.

and the Cola Wars 2013 was simply awesome, I mean, with Americans running it, it had a crazy start right off the bat on the "briefing" on Wednesday. I shall devote 1 line to describe the 1st impression of them:

crazy,crazy,crazy,crazy,crazy,crazy,crazy,crazy. super-enthu,will not pai-se one xP and their enthu-ness was really infectious, as 2nd Bro remarked to his Team Leader:"By the end of the week we would have lost all our dignity." #truedat

call it whatever you want, luck of the draw or something, but I got to be Team Pepsi Team Leader >.< (at least I got the fairly decent team)

the team individual match-up Team Coke had more pro ppl, but also more not-as-pro-ppl to balance out. Team Pepsi had a fairly good mix of ppls, all quite decent and that was the tipping point I think

1st day --- Team Pepsi won by abit - 114k : 108k (I think)--we owned in the chugging, thx to our 2nd chugger who turned the tables xD

2nd day --- We stretched the lead some more xD 240k : 220k --thx to chugging and our enthu trivia nerd bros

3rd day --- thx to the girls we managed to tie out Team Coke for the last day (in tug-of-war), so the score stands at 340k : 320k and yet again we owned in chugging (but all the egg games were really disgusting ouch xP)

yeah, maybe cause pepsi is much easier to chug than coke to begin with. anywayz, I totally loved the Coke cheer: COKE!COKE!COKE!COKE!COKE!COKE!COKE! *gets faster and faster*

hahahahahahaha....soooooooo funny! *wipes tears of laughter away* cause it sounds so wrong
during the cola wars was another time whereby I heard the most lame coke/pepsi jokes that are so not funny I wont take the time to write it out here :P

*takes a moment to be happy* well, at least we won....*happy feeling* lol

one of the parents mentioned that now that our youth has attended a Cola Wars we should be able to carry it out in the future and my answer to that right now is : !@#$!@#!# NO!  there is no way we can be as enthu as the amricans and it'll be really weird if we even try lol, still best let others run the camp and we'll stick to having fun

epic moment during the barbecue after the Cola Wars, our Dear friend: *points in general direction* "look at that beautiful curve!" (everyone took it the wrong way) hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

~~~~~~~~
now its like "officially" the 1st day of school but I don't care, my semester is over and my next grade isn't here yet so im living up my "holiday" (still have class haha, Chinese oral during the 18th, and listening compre shortly after that...so cant really slack though, like ltr i'll have Chinese class zzz)
but b4 that at least i'll run to library and also play badbinton abit, hopefully I can run into some green tea as well :)
of Beef and Green Tea
I don't know if its weird or what? I had three beef burgers today, (one for dinner and 2 for lunch, yeah, none for breakfast) (yeah, fast food for both lunch AND dinner) (I think its because I was getting sick and bored of chicken and fish burgers all the time >:/...)
I think im starting to get why parents really want to control their children's diets and what they eat and whatnot xP cause when given the choice, they'll go out and self-destruct themselves with fast (and fattening) food (yeah, like me)
thank goodness for an high metabolism rate and an active lifestyle that keeps my weight in check xP
Green Tea- my happy potion. just off-ed 1 bottle yesterday and I couldn't resist grabbing another bottle to keep me happy today as well, lets hope I can get this sugar out of my system soon so that I wont go diabetic at 17 years old *fingers crossed*
at the current rate im downing the drink, looks like the happy potion wont last very long >.<
to get a refill or not to get a refill, that is the question
reflection
well lets see.
the holiday mood that im in is really up and on (even though yesterday has class and today im teaching again and tmr there is project meeting and class (again) and stuff)---the mood of course has been somewhat dampened by Youngest Brother's condition now.
I just went in and see him at least he was able to respond and stuff, still keep the sense of symmetry that I instilled in him when he was young (yeah, lego--must be symmetric on both sides)
he just finished an MRI scan (without being sedated) but I still dun know the results
the wifi here at the McDonalds house in NUH is not bad xD
now to the long trip back by public transport to teach 1st, hopefully I can pick up green tea on the way. (I ran out last night....and suffered badly xP)
dum dum ti dum~
Weekend
*blows out a looooong breath*
well, where do I begin to describe the weekend? what words should I use to describe the weekend?
Crazy,Fun,Dissapointing,Shocking,Exciting,Bittersweet,Cool,Scary,Prayerful,
Overwhelmed.
yeah, that's the overriding emotion the entire weekend...  lets start at the beginning:
went to sleep at 2am on Saturday morning and woke up at 7am even though there was the captain ball competition. (yeah, crazy right?)....braved the haze to chiong to church to have choir, then off to the Tournament!
the 1st match that we played was epic, 1st half (8min) and we we're 10-0 up xP then by the end of 2nd half we won the match 16-2
but then in the end we got beaten (badly) by the hosts, and we ended up in 2nd place
Youngest Brother, playing around with friends had an accident: Jumping off a ledge, fell on a friend and landed on the ground on the back of his head-- skull fracture behind the left ear, bleeding from the ear---nasty, I cringe even now thinking of it. the second I saw him lying on the ground unconscious I had to keep repeating to myself:"theLordissovereignhiswillissupremetheLordissovereignhiswillissupreme" over and over again.
that incedent really gives a good refocus to all those that were there, the possibility and reality of death eclipses and value in the temporal, the relationship with others was thrown back to the top of the "must value, cannot take for granted" list.
thankfully Youngest Brother was able to be sent to the hospital and get treated there
the outpouring of concern, love, prayers. and help from the people around us was really overwhelming and it really touched all of us.
reached back home like at midnight (understandably) woke up early the next day for church
and again really touched by the way everyone around us rallied around and offered a ton of support for each and every one of us, the amount of concern was really amazing.
in the end, everything will be up to the Lord.
the Lord is Sovereign, his will is supreme.
Captains Ball Tournement
yeah, that's happening tmr, im like, really excited for it. thankfully the place where we're gonna play captains ball is indoor, so it wont be affected by the haze (right?)
still, the the "higher ups" (a.k.a adults) have prohibited lunch since the tourney starts at 1 pm. (the logic being they don't want us players to have to "chew the cud", so all oily foods are banned and the last I heard was sandwiches [yuck], chicken rice, peanut pancakes, and the rest of the host of yummy Saturday foods are off the table...ssssad)
from what we heard from our "spy" to the other side, apparently the "no-contact","friendly","edifying" side of the tourney is like, totally off or something xP, the "eyewitness" claims to have seen charging with elbows up (dirty play there) from the host side (another thing is that they have good jumpers as well, apparently). lets hope our side can avoid the host team for the first match and we can devise our strategy from there lol.
even so if its that bad, it'll be an honour to die for the church anyhowz, better a worthy cause then none :P
hopefully it wont come down to that, but as the saying goes:" if you are not willing to put yourself on the line for the team, you will be a burden, the team comes first"
and that's the beauty of team sports
"Free" Friday
woots, finally I cleared up all my work yesterday! so now im over and done with grade 11---> and will be slacking until my grade 12 flies in from over the sea xP
1st day of "holiday" (technically days like these are sssssssuper hard to come by since im on an "accelerated" track that leave like, 0 days of holiday--that being said I slack all the time so I guess it even out :P) and the haze it up to PSI 400 xD AWESOME! people say to reamin indoors but im not gonna let that stand in my way between me and my promised land a.k.a the library.
yeah, I know im crazy, but its too mainstream to stay at home when theres this "awesome" haze waiting to be inhaled outside (the stock of a certain people group that I have in mind probably has sunk to a new low as the haze climbs to a new high lol [reference totally intended there])
im going to get my library books, my bubble tea, and the haze aint gonna stop me! (yeah, nothing can dampen my holiday spirit, not even the record high haze)
Hazzzzzzzze
wow...the haze just keeps going up... the air itself smells burnt lol xD
PSI 371--> that a record pplz!
oh wellz....that keeps us all grounded at home with nowhere to go...mom keeps pushing us to do work xP
lets hope this Saturday's captains ball tournament will not be affected (it probably wont be, I guess, since its indoor) *fingers crossed*
hopefully the haze will clear over the next few days, soccer this morning was already cancelled :(
now im gonna risk my life and go out to buy dinner! masks on! >:D
Teaching
well...just got back from relief teaching so that the original teacher can travers the region and have fun lol
hooo wellz, teaching has always seemed (more or less) fairly easy (and I can still do a decent job okay?), stemming mainly from the fact that my mom was (is) a teacher...it more or less runs in the blood or something
as I have always told myself (and many ppl) Teaching has always been something I don't mind doing (I even enjoy it [a tinny winny bit {sometimes}]) so like if all else fails and I really screw up with all my career choices I would go to NIE and become a teacher
imagine the irony that a "pure" homeschooler ends up as a professional teacher in public school. how fun will that be? xD
Literature
Literature. In. Large. Amounts. Can. Really. Kill
yeah I know I said that before, and im saying it again...
and im dying now, 8 more tests to go.  im totally reaping what I sowed by slacking off in Lit lessons >.<
the entire book is arranged chronologically so the screwed up part is that its another history lesson altogether. ARGH
edgar allan poe married his 13-year old cousin and she died 12 years later....saddddddddd
lets get over with this >:(
June
June: fairly different this year around, not as "camp-packed" as previous years (no VBS,Debate Camps) (makes a change there though...) but this year round theres the unpleasant aspect of deadlines and extension of deadlines for grade 11. the idea of doing work in June was really something that I have to grapple with. (I promise to myself not to slack off in my last year of high school)
nonetheless of course there have been more pleasant moments so far (and June isn't over yet!)
YES conference 2013, ICC Speech Tournament, Basic Life Seminar, and other small happy moments here and there.
YES conference--- had fun drawing, presenting in front of a large crowd. thankful to God for clearing up the bad headache that I had on the first day so the 2nd day went well and fun. speaking of which I haven't gotten my prize money yet haha.
Winning the Category Champion for the Category: Marriage and Children, with the rest of the team was really insightful and it help me learn a lot though that.
ICC Speech Tournament--- basically having fun re-presenting what was presented for the YES conference. "Mrs Jas (K)Goh" hahaha...that was funny xD
Basic Life Seminar: 5th year as alumni, great to refresh what was learnt. Also great was meeting up with many friends that I've not seen in like forever.
as mentioned earlier, June isn't over yet! totally looking forward to the Return of Pastor (yeah, really), Inter-Church Captain's Ball Competition, Cola Wars, and other times that I can consume green tea, bubble tea, chocolate, and oreos.
hmm...I should totally get back to my literature homework now...
My life so far:
ahaha...reflection time lol xD
nice, I basically screwed up my music foundations so now my piano is messed up...
music standards? well...it'll be fairly moderate conservative (some might say even close to liberal), with a broad range of music that i'ld play on the piano
Staunchly conservative in most of the other aspects of my life. 'nuff said there (conservative upbringing, church etc)
Homeschooled, so no friends there right? (lol) high school would be finished around this time next year (hopefully)--army after that so yay! (well, maybe not that enthu)
Traits of emphasis right now: Faithfulness and Service. well, mostly faithful serving there...hopefully it'll continue as far as possible.
Interests now: mainly talking/verbal sparring/debate/whatcha-u-call-it. sports.
yep
wow...so now I have a blog eh? whats Jerel doing blogging nowadays?
wellz....mainly for the purpose of being able to look back 5,10,20 years from now and see how far I have come (or fallen away [hopefully it'll be the former])
and to laugh at my own logic/thoughts/actions etc
